The Second Anniversary of How to Train Your Dragon 2

Today is the second anniversary of How to Train Your Dragon 2!  I can't believe that How to Train Your Dragon 2 is two years old now, to say the least.

Anyways, I celebrated today by watching How to Train Your Dragon 2 while multi-tasking (briefly chatting with a few people on the Berk's Grapevine public chat and chatting with one person on Skype) after I got home from work.  I didn't really have any different feelings than the last time that I watched it, though I will admit that I wept a bit during Stoick's funeral for the second time.

I can't really think of anything else to say, except that I can't wait for the third film and I hope it won't disappoint.

A Different Feeling

When I watched How to Train Your Dragon 2 for the first time last year, I didn’t have much thought about the part during Hiccup and Toothless’s first onscreen flight where Toothless fires a few plasma blasts and Hiccup glides above them in his flightsuit.  However, a while after I watched it for the third time, I couldn’t help but feel a little bit sad about that part because of Stoick’s death.

The Same Feeling

While I originally didn’t plan on writing an entry about this, I nonetheless felt somewhat inspired to do it after I recently read the entry “Speaking from the Soul” on the blog of Toothless the Nightfury.  Speaking of which, happy birthday Toothless the Nightfury!  :)

Anyways, in the five times that I’ve watched How to Train Your Dragon 2, I’ve tended to have different feelings about some of the scenes in it every time that I’ve watched it (and while I’d like to go into detail about that, it’s another topic for another blog entry).

However, there’s one scene in it that I’ve had the same feeling about every time that I’ve watched it:  the scene where Toothless turns on Hiccup while under the control of Drago’s Bewilderbeast.  Whenever I watch that scene, my heart starts pounding in my chest.  It’s as if Toothless turning on Hiccup – and preparing to fire a plasma blast at Hiccup – is something that scares me on the inside and something that I find hard to believe.

As tempted as I was to write this entry while listening to “Hiccup Confronts Drago”, I didn’t do it at first (I didn’t listen to any songs at first, but then I listened to “Eden” by Hooverphonic and part of “Master’s Apprentices” by Opeth; quite random choices, I know)...only to do it later on in the end.  Listening to “Hiccup Confronts Drago” actually resulted in me thinking of that scene and coming close to having the feeling that I get whenever I watch that scene.

A How to Train Your Dragon Marathon

I’m glad to say that last week, two of my friends and I made up for the How to Train Your Dragon marathon that got canceled at the last minute on the one-year anniversary of the release of How to Train Your Dragon 2.  It went a little different than originally planned, though.

Happy How to Train Your Dragon 2 Day!

Happy How to Train Your Dragon 2 Day!  It’s hard to believe that it’s been one year since How to Train Your Dragon 2 was released in the United States.  Still, it’s one of my favorite films and my feelings about it haven’t changed since the first time that I watched it.

How am I celebrating this day?  Well, my original plan was to have two of my friends over, eat pizza, and watch How to Train Your Dragon and How to Train Your Dragon 2 back-to-back (because one of said friends hasn’t watched How to Train Your Dragon yet) – and I had all that planned one-and-a-half weeks in advance.  We were going to do it all in the evening, so I spent the day doing other things (surfing the Internet, writing part of a poem that I've been working on, and listening to music in particular).  Sadly, at the last minute, I found out that my friends weren’t feeling well, so my original plan to celebrate this day ended up not happening.  We plan on making up for it on a later day, though.

Even though my original plan to celebrate this day ended up not happening in the end, I’m still going to celebrate it by watching How to Train Your Dragon 2.  :)

A Funny Coincidence

Recently, I thought about two things back-to-back that resulted in a funny coincidence.

I first thought of the fact that How to Train Your Dragon 2 takes place five years after How to Train Your Dragon.  Then, I thought of the fact that last October was the five-year anniversary of me having dreams about my dragon guide.

Needless to say, I couldn’t help but chuckle on the inside once I thought about those two things back-to-back.  Who knew that the amount of time that How to Train Your Dragon 2 takes place after How to Train Your Dragon would also be the amount of time that I had dreams about my dragon guide as of last October?  I knew about both of those things, but the thought that the amount of time for both of those things is the same amount of time never crossed my mind until now.  XD

Two HTTYD-Related Things

I thought I’d share two HTTYD-related things that happened to me last year – the first of which is somewhat funny and the second of which is somewhat interesting.

After one of my friends and I saw How to Train Your Dragon 2 in theaters (it was my friend’s first time seeing it and my third time seeing it), my friend asked me if I had memorized all of the lines in How to Train Your Dragon 2 now that I had seen it three times.  I answered him by saying, “No, but I have memorized some of the lines.”

Seeing as it’s hard for me to remember things sometimes, there’s no way that I could have memorized all of the lines in How to Train Your Dragon 2 after seeing it only three times.  I would have to see How to Train Your Dragon 2 many times before I could have all of the lines in it memorized (and even then, there’s a very good chance that I would easily forget at least a few of the lines in it – but at least that would be an excuse for me to watch it more).  XD

I was with another one of my friends (who is a fan of How to Train Your Dragon) and we were talking about How to Train Your Dragon.  At one point, my friend (who knows that I write poems) said that I should write a poem about Hiccup and Toothless.  I responded by saying, “No thanks.  I’ve got more important things to write poems about for now.”

As interesting as writing a poem about Hiccup and Toothless sounds, I’ve got other things to write poems about for now.  Maybe – just maybe – I’ll write a poem about Hiccup and Toothless sometime in the future, but not now.
