A while ago, I was listening to “South Wind Meeting - Spirit Animal” by David & Steve Gordon (which I’m actually listening to while writing this entry) while out for a drive in my car. As I listened to it, I thought a bit about different kinds of spirit animals that I’ve heard of over the years (such as, but not limited to, wolves, bears, and eagles) as a result of my curiosity. I also thought about my dragon guide that appears in my dreams.
Then, a question came into my head: Why a dragon?
Out of all the animals and mythical creatures in the world, why is a dragon the one that is my guide in my dreams?
I’ve thought about several things regarding dragons since this question came into my head, but none of them have even come close to answering this question.
I’ve thought about the fact that I’m quite fascinated with dragons (and have been for a long time), but I seriously doubt that this would be the reason for a dragon to be my guide in my dreams. I will say that I certainly had no desire – be it a conscious desire or a subconscious desire – to have a dragon as my guide in my dreams. My dragon guide did start appearing in my dreams literally out of nowhere, after all.
I’ve thought about the possibility of dragons meaning anything special to me, but I came up with nothing.
I’ve thought about the things that dragons are associated with (such as, but not limited to, longevity, freedom, and fire), but none of them really mean anything special to me.
I’ve thought about the fact that I was born in the Year of the Dragon (Chinese zodiac), but I feel that this has no bearing whatsoever on a dragon being my guide in my dreams (especially since my dragon guide is a Western dragon and not an Eastern dragon).
To be honest, the more that I think about this, the harder it is for me to answer this question. Maybe it’s a question that I won’t find the answer to no matter how hard I try. Maybe it’s a question that doesn’t have an answer to it. Who knows?
Hello! I am a guy who enjoys writing, has a fascination with dragons, and is a How to Train Your Dragon fan. This is my blog where I post about thoughts, opinions, and experiences related to dragons and How to Train Your Dragon. What I post on this blog tends to be related to dragons more than How to Train Your Dragon, as I feel that I have more things to say about dragons than How to Train Your Dragon. Please feel free to leave comments.

Two Things Celebrated...and Two Dragon Dreams
I find it a bit strange that on two days this month where I celebrated two things – the publication of another one of my poems and my birthday – I had dreams of my dragon guide telling me that he will protect me when he can and me thanking him. Granted, starting off my birthday with a dream about my dragon guide was awesome, but still.

My Birthday
Well, seeing as it’s my birthday today, I thought I’d write a post about some of the things that happened during my birthday and some of the gifts that I got.

A Funny Coincidence
Recently, I thought about two things back-to-back that resulted in a funny coincidence.
I first thought of the fact that How to Train Your Dragon 2 takes place five years after How to Train Your Dragon. Then, I thought of the fact that last October was the five-year anniversary of me having dreams about my dragon guide.
Needless to say, I couldn’t help but chuckle on the inside once I thought about those two things back-to-back. Who knew that the amount of time that How to Train Your Dragon 2 takes place after How to Train Your Dragon would also be the amount of time that I had dreams about my dragon guide as of last October? I knew about both of those things, but the thought that the amount of time for both of those things is the same amount of time never crossed my mind until now. XD

Two HTTYD-Related Things
I thought I’d share two HTTYD-related things that happened
to me last year – the first of which is somewhat funny and the second of which
is somewhat interesting.
---
After one of my friends and I saw How to Train Your Dragon 2 in theaters (it was my friend’s first
time seeing it and my third time seeing it), my friend asked me if I had
memorized all of the lines in How to
Train Your Dragon 2 now that I had seen it three times. I answered him by saying, “No, but I have
memorized some of the lines.”
Seeing as it’s hard for me to remember things sometimes,
there’s no way that I could have memorized all of the lines in How to Train Your Dragon 2 after seeing
it only three times. I would have to see
How to Train Your Dragon 2 many times
before I could have all of the lines in it memorized (and even then, there’s a
very good chance that I would easily forget at least a few of the lines in it –
but at least that would be an excuse for me to watch it more). XD
---
I was with another one of my friends (who is a fan of How to Train Your Dragon) and we were
talking about How to Train Your Dragon. At one point, my friend (who knows that I
write poems) said that I should write a poem about Hiccup and Toothless. I responded by saying, “No thanks. I’ve got more important things to write poems
about for now.”

From Dragon Dreams to Trying to Find Myself
If the dreams that I’ve had about my dragon guide so far have come to make me feel anything, they’ve come to make me feel that I should try to find myself.
Hold on a second. You feel that you should try to find yourself because of dreams that you’ve had about a dragon? Yes. Most of the dreams that I’ve had about my dragon guide are recurring, similar in scenario, or similar in theme – which has led me to believe that they mean something. More to the point, many of the dreams that I’ve had about my dragon guide have dealt with who I am and what my dragon guide supposedly knows about me that I don’t know (and that my dragon guide has yet to reveal his supposed knowledge of, I might add). Not to mention that I’ve had dreams about my dragon guide for close to five-and-a-half years now.
That aside, the dreams that I’ve had about my dragon guide as of late have mostly dealt with the theme of knowing who I am. My dragon guide has kept telling me that it is time to know who I am.
Is my dragon guide right about this? Is it really time to know who I am? It’s honestly hard for me to say, let alone know. Besides, I’ve been so busy with other important things that I haven’t really had any time to actually think about it.
I will say that I don’t know who I am that well. There are some things about myself that I do know, but I feel like I’m still looking for who I am with regards to something that I don’t know yet. Now that I think about it, I find something that my dragon guide told me in one of my dreams – that there is much that I have yet to know about who I am – to be quite true. The question is, how much do I have yet to know about who I am? Again, it’s honestly hard for me to say, let alone know.
How will I go about trying to find myself? I don’t exactly know at the moment. Whatever way I do go about it, I hope that I will find at least one thing as a result of it.
