Why a dragon?

A while ago, I was listening to “South Wind Meeting - Spirit Animal” by David & Steve Gordon (which I’m actually listening to while writing this entry) while out for a drive in my car.  As I listened to it, I thought a bit about different kinds of spirit animals that I’ve heard of over the years (such as, but not limited to, wolves, bears, and eagles) as a result of my curiosity.  I also thought about my dragon guide that appears in my dreams.

Then, a question came into my head:  Why a dragon?

Out of all the animals and mythical creatures in the world, why is a dragon the one that is my guide in my dreams?

I’ve thought about several things regarding dragons since this question came into my head, but none of them have even come close to answering this question.

I’ve thought about the fact that I’m quite fascinated with dragons (and have been for a long time), but I seriously doubt that this would be the reason for a dragon to be my guide in my dreams.  I will say that I certainly had no desire – be it a conscious desire or a subconscious desire – to have a dragon as my guide in my dreams.  My dragon guide did start appearing in my dreams literally out of nowhere, after all.

I’ve thought about the possibility of dragons meaning anything special to me, but I came up with nothing.

I’ve thought about the things that dragons are associated with (such as, but not limited to, longevity, freedom, and fire), but none of them really mean anything special to me.

I’ve thought about the fact that I was born in the Year of the Dragon (Chinese zodiac), but I feel that this has no bearing whatsoever on a dragon being my guide in my dreams (especially since my dragon guide is a Western dragon and not an Eastern dragon).

To be honest, the more that I think about this, the harder it is for me to answer this question.  Maybe it’s a question that I won’t find the answer to no matter how hard I try.  Maybe it’s a question that doesn’t have an answer to it.  Who knows?

Two Things Celebrated...and Two Dragon Dreams

I find it a bit strange that on two days this month where I celebrated two things – the publication of another one of my poems and my birthday – I had dreams of my dragon guide telling me that he will protect me when he can and me thanking him.  Granted, starting off my birthday with a dream about my dragon guide was awesome, but still.

My Birthday

Well, seeing as it’s my birthday today, I thought I’d write a post about some of the things that happened during my birthday and some of the gifts that I got.
